Rehabilitation or rehab is a type of healthcare that aims to help individuals recover from physical or cognitive impairments caused by injury, illness, or a disability. Rehab can involve a range of interventions, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and mental health counseling, among others. The goal of rehab is to help individuals regain function, independence, and quality of life.
Palliative care, on the other hand, is a type of healthcare that aims to improve the quality of life for individuals who are living with serious illnesses, such as cancer, heart disease, or Alzheimer’s disease. Palliative care is focused on relieving symptoms, such as pain, nausea, and shortness of breath, as well as addressing emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Palliative care can be provided alongside curative treatment or as the main focus of care for individuals who are no longer seeking a cure.
